Hi! My name is Kari and I'm a pill popper.
All the vitamins and homeopathic herbs I am taking the last few weeks of pregnancy
Before today I was just taking your standard prenatal vitamin everyday. I had my most recent centering class/appointment today and now I am popping three other types.
The smallest bottle is nicknamed the "Childbirth combo" and is a homeopathic combo of five herbs that tones the uterus. Women who use it are less likely to carry their pregnancy beyond 42 weeks and are less likely to have severe afterbirth pains. It comes in these little white pellets that you dissolve under your tongue. Actually, they taste REALLY good!
I'm also not taking calcium tablets twice a day. During the last three months of pregnancy, calcium intake is crucial because the baby's bones are developing. Babies in utero always take the nutrients they need from their mothers, whether or not they leave anything for their motherÂs bodies to use. So Lucas has gotten all the calcium he needs but I might not be.
Finally I am also now taking Evening Primrose Oil which is an herbal capsule that ripens (softens) thecervixs so that when contractions begin the cervix opens more easily. Anything that will make labor easier I am willing to try!
I have all four bottles lined up in front of my computer screen so I will remember to take them. Everything is fine with the baby. However, as we have been redoing the kitchen we've beeneatingg a lot of take out that tastes yummy but is really crap so I gained four lbs in a month for a total of 23 lbs so far over 9 months...Alsoo my blood pressure was a little bit above "normal." It is amazing how what you eat effects you in so many ways!!! Now we can go back toeatingg normal because except for a few little touch ups the kitchen is done.
Tonight we moved on to the living room and Curt put down base boards and started painting the walls the same color as our kitchen. I will take a picture soon but our house is back to tornado land. I have just gotten over the stress as it is more likely that Lucas will be late then show up early or on his due date.
OH!!! One cool thing I forgot about was the midwife that taught our centering class today was my mom's midwife when she was pregnant with me! She remembered me!!! She saw my mom's name written on my birth plan (on the list of people that I might want in the room with me when I am in labor) and she asked "Is Valeri your mom? Did she have a midwife about 20 years ago? Are you that baby?" She actually took care of my mom throughout her pregnancy with me and would have delivered me at home, if I wasn't such a problem child!
Not only was I late by about a month, when my mom's water broke (in the K-Mart onMontgomeryy X-roads) it had meconium in it (which means I had my first poop before I was born, which can be dangerous) I was also breech AND the umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck. So I ended up being delivered at Candler Hospital and the midwife was there supporting my mom through it giving up her New Years Eve and Near Years Day. I was finally born on Jan 1, 1982 (23 years ago). She said sherememberss me because I was a little mustard colored baby until they cleaned me off...There is not much more to say after that!
