Knock on Wood

Personally I prefer my bunnies in Chocolate. Posted by Picasa

Lucas seems to have fallen into a sleep schedule now and it includes naps during the day! This is how our day goes now based around Lucas' sleeping.

6:00 AM wakes up to nurse and we both fall asleep doing so
7:00 AM " same"
7:30-8:00 Awake for the day and ready to nurse again
9:30/10- 11:00-11:30 Take a nap
if won't take a morning nap he will take a nap 1:30-3:30
awake again until 6:00-7:30ish takes another nap
goes to bed between 10-11PM
wakes up around 2 or 3 am to nurse then goes back to bed.

For most of his naps I take one too since I am usually up for a chunk of time while he sleeps at night. I am a night owl and I'm still having trouble going to sleep. Plus it is nice to have some alone time while everyone in the house is asleep!

Now that Lucas is taking naps during the day I am able to get more done and get more sleep. I've given up on getting him to go to sleep for now on his own. Right now I would rather him just go to sleep then stress us both out. It is working for us now so why fix what isn't broken. Besides he is sleeping in his own room! Staying asleep when he is put down in his bassinet! That is big progress compared to last month!

The only problem we are still having is his poor little nose. It is always stuffy. It has been since he was born. We've tried everything from using the nose sucker to using saline drops. The nose sucker makes him scream and the saline drops work but they make him spit up after eating. His pediatrician has recommended breast milk in the past and honestly I tried it one time but Jadie got a hold of his medicine dropper and chewed it up so I used Infant Saline drops because we had them and they were easier then having to express a little milk to put in a medicine dropper to squirt in his nose.

Since the saline started to make him spit up I bought a new medicine dropper and today I bit the bullet and went to the extra hassle of giving him drops of breast milk in his nose. I only had to do it twice today as compared to several times it usually takes. Plus he didn't scream at all! His nose stayed clearer for longer and I am kicking myself for not doing this earlier.

Still there has got to be something that he is ultra sensitive to. Like I have mentioned before his nose is always more stuffy after being around smokers and Lisa told me that the ceiling fan could be stirring things up so I turned it off and it seemed to help quite a bit. He is also sleeping with a cool mist vaporizer in his room at night and I am dusting and vacuuming more... Two things I HATE! I'm careful to make sure that he isn't in the room while I do this just in case it stirs up more dust while I am doing it. We'll see how that works and if this doesn't make things better I'm going to make an appointment for him. First I want to try the things I know they will suggest anyway.

Today I also talked to Angela for quite a while. She seems to be doing well and really likes Tucson. I also talked to Kaliegh and she sounded to grown up! They are getting ready for Halloween.

I'm glad you got to talk to them today. I know you and Curt miss them alot. I hope I don't give the wrong advice. Even though the Dr. said not to use the ceiling fan we still did, so take everything I say with a grain of salt (Is that the right way to say that)

I'm glad Angela's doing well, & Kayleigh, too. Please tell them we said, "Hello". The schedule is kicking in & sleeping longer is part of it--hooray! Makes you feel human again when the babies start to sleep through the night, etc.
