MY latest Project

I have spent the last two days during Lucas' nap times ripping out the zebra carpet in our bedroom. I have hated the zebra carpet since the first time I tried to steam clean it. The white parts were never white once they got a little bit of dirt on them and the black parts showed every single piece of dog hair on them. No matter how many times I tried vacuuming or steam cleaning the carpet it always looked dirty and dingy. I have been talking to Curt about us ripping the carpet out for months but I don't think he ever took me seriously. I never really pushed because I knew it would be a pain in the butt to rip the carpet out and then have to load it in something to haul it off to a dumpster.

Well, Thursday we got a letter from the office announcing that for this weekend only they were going to have a huge dumpster put up at lot 179 (we are 2 lots away) that accepted ANYTHING we could fit in it. I think their idea was to encourage people to clean up the outside of the "trailerhood" but I saw this as my only chance to get rid of the zebra stripes on my bedroom floor! When Curt got home from work that night I showed him the letter and again brought up ripping out the bedroom carpet and putting tile down (we get our tax refund in a few weeks). I could tell he wasn't thrilled of the idea of coming home from work to help me rip up carpet and he didn't believe me when I said that I would do it myself. I called him Friday just as I was about to rip up my first piece of carpet to make sure he was okay with it. He told me to go ahead. I still don't think he believed that I would do it.

Well, fifteen minutes ago I just threw away the last piece of animal print carpet in our house and it felt really good that I did it (the carpet had gotten so ugly that I didn't even take a true "before picture" before I got rid of it). For those of you who don't know while I was pregnant we (meaning Curt, and his family, and not really me because they didn't want me doing to much) did some major renovations to our house. We started off with our old computer room changing it into Lucas' nursery, then the dining room, kitchen, and finally the living room (which we "finished" days before Lucas arrived... even though we STILL have little touch ups to do.) We'd plan to paint our bedroom eventually just 7 months later still haven't gotten around to it.

We already have the paint and the floor won't get messed up right now so I think I am going to keep renovating our bedroom during Lucas' naps. I can paint a different wall of the room everyday and by the time our income tax money shows up to buy the tile I can have it all done. It will be nice to actually be able to work on something without having to take a break because my feet are swelling or because someone is kicking me in the ribs from the inside out.

Here is your daily fix of Lucas' cuteness. He is eating his veggies again! I've started mixing in a little bit of baby cereal to thicken them up and he is back to love his carrots and squash! He actually smiles and laughs between bites and opens wide when he is ready for the next one. I guess I don't blame him... I wouldn't want to eat liquid veggies either. Thank goodness I buckled him in today. He gets so excited about meal time now he can hardly contain himself while I get his food ready. Today he kept leaning forward in his rocker trying to see if I was coming or not.

Also here is a video of Lucas and his best friend Jadie.

Man that is alot of stuff you posted with all the work you have been doing. I know you are going to love your new floor. I always thought the carpet was cool but I guess I can relate since we have black tile in the kitchen. I see every crumb that falls.
