This morning after the third time Lucas tried to sneak a pacifier I finally got fed up and snipped the end off of one of his pacifiers and gave it back to him (after making sure he wouldn't choke or bite any of the remaining nipple off.) Now with a hole in his paci he can't really suck it. If he keeps wanting his paci I'll cut a little bit more off everyday. I'm just done with the whole paci thing. Lucas knows something is up because he keeps pulling his paci out and looking at it like "what is going on here?" We are skipping our normal story time at the library today just in case he has a huge meltdown (and because we have errands to run.) I just hope this doesn't backfire. So does this put me in the running for meanest Mommy of the year?

Nope, be strong. If he melts down and you give in even once, he'll know that if the fit is big enough he's going to get the paci. As he approaches his second birthday, much more tough love will be needed. Trust me...this is a good place to start. Jill
the only trouble for me is that, he only wants the paci when he's sleepy. so by night time, he needs to have it, otherwise, we'll have to be up all night, and that means me, drowsy at work the following day. how's that for a trouble?
