Today Lucas and I went to Splash in the Boro with our playgroup (although not many people were able to make it today.) When we got there he was very excited to see the water but not excited to actually go in. The water park has two kid areas that have "zero depth entry areas" and he would run away even when I would put him in water that wasn't even deep enough to cover his toes. I ended up sitting down in the very shallow water with him on my lap and got him to put his feet in the water but he had a death grip on my arms and kept them tightly wrapped around him.
Eventually I took him in the Lazy River and was surprised when he didn't try to escape or cry. He ended up curling up on the float and laying against me and falling asleep. We rode along the Lazy River for a LONG TIME. When we got out he was half asleep but I asked him if he wanted to eat lunch and he perked right up.
He must have been starving because he just sat down at the picnic table and ate without trying to get down or run away or play with his food.
After lunch I tried to get him to play in the kid areas with his friends but he stayed at a safe distance away and laughed while they ran through the sprinklers. I eventually got him to sit on the very edge of one of the kiddie pools and splash with his hands and kick his feet without holding on to me. It wasn't long though before he was begging to go back in the Lazy River, which we did and he fell asleep again. I guess I need a lazy river at home!
When we got home Lucas took a LONG nap and then played drums on his Daddy's head.
