Our days when we get out of the house first thing in the morning always seem to go so smooth. This morning we went and met our friends for our morning walk around the park and you sat back in your stroller happily munching on cereal and listening to toddler songs on my ipod. I'm so glad we've been consistently walking because it is fabulous exercise and it is something we can do together. Lately I've been really bad about going to the gym because we've been doing the walking instead. It's a lot more fun working out with friends than going by myself. I'm actually going to be glad when my gym contract is up in a month.
After we finish walking with everyone I've started to let you get out of the stroller and walk around and explore for a while. Today you wanted to walk a little bit on the trail while holding my hand. I guess we were going on a duck hunt because you would randomly yell out "duck? duck?" like you were trying to call them to you.
You were very excited when we found the duck hangout. You threw them the rest of your cereal and laughed as they ate. There was one little yellow baby duck with them and when I pointed the duck out you said "Hi baby duck!" You didn't care about the baby duck as much as you did about these two ducks that walked away from the group and weren't eating food. I thought you were going to chase them down and make them come eat their cereal. I finally convinced you it was okay if they left because they were probably already full.
Duck hunting must be hard work because you wanted to go home and eat. You could barely wait for me to make your lunch. When I finally set your PB sandwich, tomato slices, and cheese cubes in front of you they were gone before I even made myself a sandwich. We just recently started giving you peanut butter regularly and you love it. Some of your friends are allergic to it and with your love of sharing food I think we are going to skip the PB on playgroup days to be on the safe side.
I'm getting better at incorporating you into household chores. You love to help but there are still somethings that you can't help with like folding laundry. I used to save folding laundry for when you took a bath or a nap but now I just set you on top of the washer with paper and your "colors" and I fold the clothes on the dryer. You like being up there because you can see what I am doing and your love of coloring keeps you busy while I fold.
When I need to put clothes in the washing machine I just set you in the clothes basket on top of the dryer and you either color or pretend to take a nap (complete with fake snoring.) You could care less about watching me throw the clothes in to "take a bath" but once the machine starts filling with water or I pour the soap in you love to watch and point to the "water" and the "bubbles."
Besides coloring the other love of your life is throwing balls into the air. I think you have a pretty good arm for being a toddler. I wonder how long before you start catching them. For now you are just happy to toss them behind your back and then try and then you try and turn around before the ball falls to the ground then you run after the ball and do it again.
Your vocabulary is growing so much. Now you can ask for things and we can understand you. Now if only I could get YOU to understand that just because you ask Mommy or Daddy for something doesn't mean we can magically happen in the very second you ask for it. Tonight as I was cooking dinner you asked me for some water. You grabbed Jadie's heavy water dish (I'm not sure if you were asking for water for her or you) and tried to push it on the counter. You didn't quite get it up there because when you took your hands away it fell back and hit you right above your eye. You started screaming bloody murder and I couldn't pick you up right away because I had raw meat juice on my hands and had to wash them off. Once I was able to pick you up you calmed down quickly. I am guessing you might have a black eye tomorrow.
Bugga, I love you to the moon and back,
Mommy
