Today Lucas woke up with a pretty bad diaper rash. He slept at least part of the night with poop in his diaper and it irritated his little tush. Normally Lucas is a day pooper so we rarely have this problem (because I know you were wondering.) He didn't want me to put a diaper on so I let him have "nudie tudie" time.
During breakfast Lucas kept saying "pee pee, pee pee" over and over again. When I asked him if he needed to go potty he said "yup" and when I asked if he wanted to go on the potty he would say "NO!!! Diaper, Mommy please!!!" I was trying to avoid putting a diaper on him just so I would have to turn around and change him so I even offered to let him pee outside in the yard. (Don't judge me, I have a boy and diapers cost money and you aren't paying his diaper bill) He thought that sounded like a good idea so outside we went. He squatted down and "tried" but nothing ever came out so we came back inside and I figured he really didn't have to go after all.
Lucas climbed back up to the table to finish eating his breakfast. A few minutes later he climbed down again and just as I was asking if he was done he made a puddle on the floor. Thank goodness it was on the tile and not on the carpet!
I am actually happy to know that my kid realizes when he has to go before he has to go but I don't know how to get him to WANT to go on the potty. Every time he has told me he has to go potty and I put him on the toilet he always holds it and begs for a diaper. He used to beg to just sit on the potty and now he doesn't want to go near it (unless it is to steal toilet paper from the roll and ball it up in his fist and carry it around all day.)
Just when I thought cleaning up Lucas' puddle was going to be the highlight of my day Lucas comes running up to me with a present. He held out his hand and excitedly said "Mommy, here" so I held out my hand too... only for him to fill my hand with his poop. This must be what they call the "joy of motherhood."

I know you didn't find it amusing at the time, but that story helped me to start my day off with a laugh! I love to hear about Lucas's hijinks. He's such a funny little boy.
