Turns out that earlier today when Lucas FINALLY tried on his pirate costume he was just humoring me. The second I put the camera he pulled the costume off and threw it in the corner and said "no more pie-ette Mommy." When his Dad got him he excitedly showed him the pictures of him dressed up as a pirate and "ARRRGHHHed" for him but he refused to wear it again. So I had to go to his back up costume (and yes that makes 5 costumes for him total this year!)
I took a shirt that I had gotten him the other day that says "Chick Magnet" on it and used double sided tape to cover it with pictures of chicks. He saw the shirt sitting on the counter while he was eating dinner and said "WOW, a chicken shirt, BOK! BOK!!" I had to convince him NOT to put it on right then and there but to keep eating his dinner. We ended up meeting up with some of Lucas' cousins at a park to go trick-or-treating in one of the really nice housing communities near where we live. I tried to tell Lucas he was a "chick magnet" for Halloween and he would tell me "I'm a chicken man!" Since nobody was handing out candy at first we had to wait an hour for it to get a little dark before actually trick-or-treating so it was great that we met at the park.
After going up to his first house and getting candy put in his bag Lucas looked up at me and said "Wow, trick-or-treat!" He said it like he was thinking "how crazy is it that first off people that I don't know are giving away FREE candy and secondly that you are haven't taken it away from me and on top of all of that it is so past my bedtime!"
