MRI Results

Curt went to the DR today to get his MRI results. He is being referred to an Orthopedic specialist. He has a lower lumbar strain and his nerves are being pinched by his 4th and 5th vertebrae which keep slipping. The reason for the referral is because his Doctor thinks that he might need surgery to make the holes in his vertebrae larger so the nerves can pass through without being pinched. Or at least that is what I think Curt explained to me.

Curt is terrified right now and I feel a little helpless since there is nothing I can do. I don't know if I have ever seen him this scared. His Doctor today told him that if he does have to get surgery and he smokes his recovery time will be 3x as long. He had quit smoking at the beginning of the year and started to pick it back up more from the stress of dealing with his back. His orthopedic appointment isn't until Friday morning so we won't know anymore until then.
