Everything is fine now. As soon as I pressed submit on the last post Curt walked through the front door. It turns out that Nick (the guy he works with) was all torn up over his girlfriend breaking up with him and Curt was sick so the boss sent both of them home. So just as soon as I explained the check situation to Curt the bank calls to say the reason the check was returned is because the account it was written from is closed.

Curt calls his boss and it is all worked out now. Last week his normal secretary was out and couldn't do payroll so he had someone else do it as a favor to him (they used to do it for him) well the fill in used the wrong payroll checks. His boss had just switched banks and the fill in used the old checks for payroll and also sent them off to pay some of the boss' bills (like his house payment)! Right now Curt is on his way to get a new check from the correct bank account for the original amount plus extra to cover the overdraft fees we were charged. So it all worked out in the end.
