Baby Anderson Update

I just copy and pasted what Toni, a friend of Baby Anderson's Family wrote:

Hey all,
Well, the pathology report is in, and while there's nothing unexpected, it's still sad news. The tumor is an ependymoma, and they found that some of the cells from the biopsy were anaplastic. Anaplastic cells are immune to chemotherapy, and you can't do radiation therapy on children younger than 3. So the game plan is to treat him with chemo, trying to keep the tumor at bay, until he is old enough to be treated with radiation. The pediatric oncologist did not give much hope for this happening, and Michelle is devastated.

Michelle (my friend) has had the motto "one miracle at a time," and has only dealt with the day literally an hour at a time. She has refused to read any info on Anderson's condition, so this all came as a complete shock to her. I can understand why she is doing this, because it's the only way she can get through. I sent them more info on St. Jude's, and hopefully her husband can get it through to her to talk to the doctor's before they start the chemo (Since st. Jude's will only take patients who have not undergone treatment yet).

Anderson is doing better, and is slowly gaining strength and the paralysis is wearing off. The plan is to move him out of the ICU next week, which will be nice for the family. Michelle and Jon have only left the inside of the hospital once, and that was to go stand outside for a few moments. They are holding up well, considering all that they have gone through in the last few weeks.

I want to thank those of you who donated to their fund, and to those who have left messages for them on Caring Bridge. Each donation and message has meant so much to them, and she reads and takes note of every one.

I again urge you guys to visit the site and show this family that there are people out there who are thinking about them and praying for them!

Thanks again, and I'll post more updates as I get them!~Toni
