In an effort to fatten up my little baby I gave Lucas hummus for the first time today. For those of you who don't know it is made with Olive Oil and chickpeas so it is packed with protein. Lucas LOVED it but a few minutes later he broke out in a little rash around his face. His Dad was home and flipped out a little and said "what are we going to do if his throat closes up?" while he quickly washed his face and hands.
I knew he was fine because he was happy and didn't seem bothered one bit by the little rash. I checked the label and noticed one of the main ingredients is lemon. I am pretty sure the lemon juice just irritated his skin. Also, ironically one of the other July babies who gets Hummus all the time got the same rash today for the first time. Her mom said that she usually feeds it to her and it doesn't get on her face but today it did and hence the rash.

People have asked me before what is that strange tan mushed up stuff. LOL I guess this might qualify as a beans beans beans picture, since I am pretty sure Garbanzo Beans (Thats what I grew up calling them) are in the Legume family. We like to eat them (Half of us call them chick peas the other half garbanzo) in fresh raw baby spinach with tomatoes, cucumbers etc.
I think you should try giving Lucas just a tiny bit of peanut butter - if for no other reason than the photographic opportunity. That's full of protein and healthy-fats, right? :D
Hummus is great...
and here is an
article on peanut butter
