Don't be Sarcastic

Today we had the pleasure of our nephew Steven spending the day with us. Steven is a good kid with a kind heart. He always wants to play with Lucas and never excludes him even though he is only 1. Every time we are around Steven I am amazed by how active and smart he is. I don't remember having half the energy he has when I was eight. Today he pushed Lucas around on his ride-on-toy, painted pictures, watched VeggieTales (Lucas loved dancing to Larry's Silly Song so much we are getting him this), went swimming, and pretended to fly Buzz Light Year around the house.

While we were waiting for his Mom to come and pick him up from my parents house Steven decided to try out my Mom's Gazelle. He was very excitedly said "Look at me Aunt Kari," it in the way that most kids do when they do something for the first time. I was busy doing something else so I did a very adult thing and said "I'm impressed" without even looking up. Steven took me off guard when he honestly said "Don't be Sarcastic Aunt Kari." He sure is one smart cookie.

Personally, I always find it humbling to be 'called on' something by someone much younger than myself... and it has happened a few times lol It's probably good for us, though.
