When we got you your very first fish I could never imagine how much you would love it. The poor fish still doesn't have a name but it is loved more than any other fish in the whole wide world. His tank is already covered in smudges from all the kisses and hugs you have given him. I think you could watch him swim around for hours if we let you.
Today when you got up from your nap you were still half asleep but while I was changing your diaper you yelled "fishie!!" (By the way, I don't know why it is easier for you to say fishie then fish by itself.) You ran straight to the fish tank and greeted him before you would even glance at your Daddy or eat dinner (which was fish, which we rarely have, oh the irony.)
It makes me smile to watch you with animals. Today we went over to your Grandparents' house for a little while. We recently found out Marshmallow is sick and has kitty cancer. She will most likely have to be put to sleep very soon. Usually she runs and hides at the first glance of a little kid being anywhere near her. Since she is very sick she just stayed were she was and you came up to her and started to feed her little kitty treats one by one. She actually started to purr because you were being so gentle and sweet with her. Too bad your gentleness didn't last long. You had your very first time out today (which I'm sure is the first of many to come) because you pushed your great-grandma on her knee because I wouldn't let you close the bathroom door. You also hit your Grandma in the face. I guess we need to figure out where your "naughty spot" is going to be for timeouts at home.
Most of the reason that you were acting out was that you were tired. Just a few minutes after we were in the car and headed home you feel asleep. I must admit I love when you fall asleep in the car because that means that I can get you out of your car seat when we get where we are going and if I sit still you will keep sleeping and I can cuddle you for a little bit. I love the weight of your body in my arms while you are sleeping and still. Usually the minute I close the door and start walking for the house you will wake up and fuss a little bit before I lay you back down to sleep in your crib.
Last night you told me "thank you" for the first time all on your own. We were getting ready for bed and I handed you your baby and paci and you looked at me and said "Thank you." My heart melted right there. I gave up my obsession right then and there of stressing about you still using a paci (Which by the way you've started using less and less on your own and will actually take out on your own to do important things like blow bubbles, growl at your fish, and talk to your imaginary friends on the phone.) Then tonight when I was getting ready to leave to go to a friend's house for dinner you looked over at me, gave me the biggest smile, and just waved bye-bye to me.
Bugga, I love you to the moon and back,
Mama
