It seems like overnight our sweet little toddler has turned into a 3 foot tall "teenager." Anything I suggest gets a "NO!" or "I don't want to" or a slammed door. This includes suggesting that Lucas try on his pirate costume that just last week he was so excited about. If I try to put the costume on him he kicks, screams, and acts like it is acid burning his skin off. When I give up I catch him dressing up his doll, stuffed monkey, and even Jadie up in it and saying "ARRRGGGH!"
I even tried using toddler "MINE" reasoning where I clutched the costume to my body and said "Mine! Mine! Mine!" over and over. Lucas just smiled. My final attempt was at putting the costume up in a high place and saying "you aren't allowed to play with this" and he could care less (unlike when I stored his paint pens up out of what I thought was his reach only to find "murals" on his wall after nap time.)
Yes, I know this is such a silly thing to get frustrated over but Lucas would make the best pirate ever. He loves saying "ARRRGGGH" and I was going to sew a little toy parrot on the shoulder of his costume. I just hope he wants to dress up as SOMETHING! As a last resort I am going to try and make him a penguin costume. If I can't get him to dress up in a costume I guess he can always go trick-or-treating as a 3 foot teenager who never listens to his mommy.
