Life Lessons

This past weekend a friend asked me if I could watch her son today while she ran some errands. Her little boy is a sweetheart and Lucas really likes him so I thought no problem. She told me I could just bring him to my house if I wanted but I just planned on just going over to her house and watching him there. Plans changed when I found out that I was going to be carless while my car got a tune up as an early Christmas present (thanks so much Mom & Dad!!) When I realized I would have to watch him at my hous and I started to panic.

This all sounds so silly as I write this out now but I have never invited anyone from my playgroup over to my house before. All of my friends have these big nice amazing houses and here we are living in an old mobile home in the biggest trailer park I have ever seen. I have the greatest friends in the world and I know they would never judge me because of where we live but for some reason I was incredibly embarrassed by it (even though our family has worked so hard helping us to turn our trailer into a nice home.) I ended up telling my friend all about my silly petty worries and just the sweet things she said made me realize just how much I have to be thankful for.

Lucas had a blast playing with his friend today. I didn't know little boys could play with trains for so long. Lucas' friend could care less if he was in a trailer or a mansion and when his Mommy came to get him he didn't want to leave, he wanted to stay and play. Lucas did incredibly well for sharing his toys for the first time and I think today is the first of many more home play dates to come.
