Am I Raising a Greedy Kid?

Ever since Lucas saw one of his friends with an Iron Man mask he is DYING to have it. When I told him we were not going to buy it for him he became obsessed with other ways of trying to get it. Everyday he asks if we can take him to the store to buy it with his own money. He is constantly pulling the money out of his piggy bank and counting it... of course he has no idea about the value. He counted his four dollar bills and his fifteen random coins and proudly told me that he had $19. (Ha, I wish money worked like that!)

After he finished counting, Curt jokingly asked if Lucas would let him borrow some money. Lucas shook his head and said something like "No I am rich. You don't get rich by giving money away!"

His reaction is obviously not the idea that I want him to have about money. Ideally I would love to teach him he should divide his money into 3 groups, spend, save, give back. I just don't know how to go about it and what I should expect a four year old to understand.

How do you teach your kids about money?

We just ordered Dave Ramsey's kid's series for Hannah. He teaches about saving, spending, and donating. Right now they're on sale ;-)

Lini, that sounds just what I am looking for... what is it called? Where did you find it on sale?
