This is What Happens When Curt Ignores the Sharpie Ban

Curt accidentally left a sharpie laying around the house, and this is what happened.

Now That's GOOD Parenting

Lucas' latest adventure involved a sharpie, the entire length of our living room carpet, the seat cushion of out chair, the dining room floor, the kitchen wall, the oven, and Lucas' clothes and body. The worst part of everything... Curt and I were BOTH in the room totally OBLIVIOUS at the time it happened. Curt was sitting just a few feet away from the couch at the computer and I was laying on the couch snoozing away. I woke up to Curt yelling "L-U-C-A-S!!!! GET IN TIME OUT NOOOOOOOW!"
We thought we had thrown out every single sharpie that we had in the house. Maybe Lucas has a secret stash. The sharpie line starts right where Jadie is standing and goes past Lucas well into the dining room. This picture was taken AFTER I steam cleaned the carpets TWICE (each time it fades a little) and after Curt cleaned off the sharpie marks on Lucas' face, arms, and legs. He still has sharpie in his hair on the back of his head.

Wish He'd Find a New Way to Express Himself

Maybe I should change the title of my blog to "look what Lucas got into today." I'm sure a few people have been reading and thinking to themselves "wow, they must never watch their kid!" If you are one of those people, I challenge you to hang out with Lucas for a day and see just how smart and sneaky an almost 3 year old boy really can be.

I think we are going to be getting rid of all Sharpie permanent markers because no matter where we put them up or try to hid them Lucas finds them and uses them to decorate things (his legs, our TV screen, computer desk... it would be shorter to list what he has NOT colored on YET!) Today Lucas also got into my brand new mascara. He put it in his hair, on his face, on our sheets, and then closed the tube up and put it back where he found it. I guess he thought that if he put it back where he got it from we would never find out. I'll be so glad when this phase is over... This phase does end... RIGHT!?!?!

Also, in case you wanted to know THIS is a great product to use to remove waterproof mascara from faces, hands, and hair.

Parental Lesson #365: You Can Baby Proof, But There is No Such Thing as Toddler Proofing

Yes, that is a picture of my new phone. Yes, it is covered in black sharpie permanent marker. Yes, we keep the sharpies up "out of Lucas' reach" on the highest shelf in our house. Yes, that only makes them more tempting.

Lucas' First Popsicle.

Curt went to see Spiderman 3 with Tony (my sister's husband) so I did Lucas' bedtime routine alone. When he got bored of coloring things with a red sharpie and trying to steal the toilet plunger from the bathroom (turns out me telling him 100 times how yucky and gross it is only makes it look more appealing) I was running out of ideas to keep him busy so I handed him a Popsicle. I was happy to see that he is a biter and not a licker because I eat my Popsicles the same way. After each bite he would look up at me and say "cold!" in the way that if I would of had a whole box of Popsicles in the freezer I would have let him eat every single one just so I could hear him say "cold!" all night long. When it was all gone he politely let Jadie lick the last remnants off of his stick.
