You are such a little boy that is for sure. It never fails that somewhere on your body you have AT LEAST one bruise, scrape, or bug bite from your latest adventures. There is also always some part of you that is dirty and you always have crazy hair. I can’t believe I used to think I wanted you to be a little girl. I wouldn’t know the first thing to do with one.

Lately you’ve turned into a little bit of a bully when it comes to little girls or Jadie. At playgroups you don’t seem to think little girls should share your personal space and if they get too close to you then you will give them a shove. It embarrasses me to no end. I know that this is partly the age and partly just a stage but I still can’t help endlessly apologizing to the mom and child. They always understand but I don’t want to be the Mom who doesn’t get invited places because their kid is a meanie.

You’ve always started to be mean to Jadie. You pull her tail and ears and don’t want her to be near you either. If she is sitting in my lap and you notice you will come and shove her off. You are so sweet and gentle to every other animal in the world so I truly think that you fight with Jadie as you would with a sibling. She does her fair share of annoying you too since she STILL tries to lick you in the face. Honestly, now that I think about it I bet some of the reason you are mean to Jadie is that you are bored and you know it is a quick way for you to get our attention. You pulled Jadie’s tail today when I was on the phone with Comcast trying to get our Internet fixed.

I am so amazed by how much your imagination has grown lately. Every day you seem more involved in pretend play. You are either walking around “talking” on the phone, pretending to wash your hair (usually right after I brush it which gives you the crazy hair look) or cooking us up a meal.

Even though you have been mean to Jadie lately you always have your moments of playing with her nicely. You will play “tag” and chase each other up and down the hall or tug-of-war with her doll. You both love a good game of fetch the ball and you always save Jadie a big spoonful of the Lucas special of whatever imaginary food you have cooked up.

I know you have a thing for music and dancing but today you made my mouth literally drop open. We had just gotten back home for your Doctors appointment and out of habit I turned the TV on while I made lunch. I ended up putting it on some Broadway special without realizing it and you were instantly captivated by the singing and dancing. Some duet came on you disappeared into your room. I thought you had gotten bored since the two singers weren’t dancing but were just standing in front of two microphones singing. You emerged from your room holding this microphone we had won from Chuck E. Cheese and you stood in front of the TV with it held up to your mouth and swaying back and forth to the music. I didn’t even know you knew what a microphone was since you never really played with it before. When the song was over you threw it on the ground and came to see if lunch was ready.

After lunch I handed the microphone back to you to see what you would do and you started singing into it. I have never really heard you sing before. When you were done singing you threw the microphone down, waved bye-bye (you are such a ham you knew I was filming you) and then put your hand to your head like performing for your fans had taken so much out of you.

You’ve been learning new words like crazy lately. This week you started saying the word “baby” and now when you are looking for your blanket when you are tired you call out “baby? baby?” like you expect it to call out “Here I am!” You also point out pictures of babies and love to look at real babies. Another new word is “book” and that means you want to pick out a book and have us read it to you right then (which is usually first thing in the morning when you wake up.) Your other new word is “cook” except you say it more like “cooooook” and that means you want to help me make dinner.

You think you are such a big kid. You are constantly trying to climb up to the kitchen table and see what it up there. It used to be that we had to always make sure all the kitchen chairs were pushed under the table all the way to keep you from climbing up there. Now you know how to pull them out from under the table and climb right up. If there is a cup without a lid on the table you want it. You don’t know how many times we have caught you drinking out of one of our glasses of water. It is a VERY good thing we don’t drink alcohol or I’m sure you would have had you first buzz already.

Your Dad and I certainly have our hands full especially since you ran away for the first time today and you aren’t even two yet! I had let Jadie out to use the bathroom and was in the middle of cooking dinner. I turned to get something out of the microwave and looked down and you were gone. I started to look around for you and noticed the door was open. You had managed to open the door, get outside, cross the yard and make it to were our cars were parked before we even noticed you were missing. I started to get scared because I couldn't even see you and as I started to call your name you come out from between two cars with this big grin on your face. I think I had my first near heart attack…. the first of many I’m sure.
Bugga, I love you to the moon and back,
Mama
