Grandma & Grandpa La Forge's Visit

On Saturday, Curt's Grandparents stopped by for a visit on their way home to Michigan from Florida. Curt was so excited to show them our new house and served finger foods at lunch.
Lucas and Caden enjoyed some snuggle time with Great-Grandma
Caden is getting so big. He will be one years old next month
Curt also grilled out and after dinner Lucas pulled out some of his games to play
Lucas thought it was really neat to get to roast marshmallows with Great Grandpa.

A Little Weekend Update

Friday afternoon Lucas and I dropped off his the rest of his applications for pre-k. We were on our way home when my car started to overheat. Luckily I was right by our friends house so I went there. Sean was nice enough to look at the car for me and Lucas played with his friends David and Gabe (they are Sean and Priscilla's sons.)
In the wee hours of Saturday morning Lucas got sick. We are thinking now that he might have choked on his baby, (he likes to suck on it in his sleep.) After throwing up he went to sleep and when he woke up he was fine (and very hungry.) We were very glad that he wasn't sick because we had plans to get together with Curt's Grandparents. They stopped on their way back to Michigan from their trip to Florida. We ended up having dinner at Ruby Tuesdays and then back to their hotel room to visit for a while longer. Lucas ended up playing photographer.

This morning we went to church and Curt and Sean worked on my car. After church we let the boys play while the guys finished up with the car. It was such a pretty day outside! Curt and Sean were able to fix the problem with my car for pretty cheap. Turns out the car was overheating because the fans weren't turning on to cool off the car. Luckily it just took a $17 part!

3 AM Wake-Up Call

While most people are cuddled up in their beds snoozing away right now, I am not. Instead I am watching cartoons with Lucas and an orange bowl.

I got woken up at 3AM when Lucas tried to crawl in between me and Curt. I woke up just enough to tell him to go back to his bed. Normally all I have to do is tell him once and he will head back to his room and go back to sleep. Well, this time he was still trying to crawl in bed with us and I started to notice this funky puke smell. At first I just thought it was his lovey, that often smells FUNKY (especially since we don't get to change it out as often, since his 2 spare babies have seem to have gone missing) so I threw it across the room. I know mother of the year right. Well then I noticed that the smell was also coming from Lucas. I asked him if he had thrown up in his room and he said he had.

When I got to his room I was greeted by the familiar funky smell and lets just say it will be a LONG time before I can eat hot dogs again. His bed was COVERED in puke. I started Lucas a warm bubble bath and I got to work at stripping his bed and starting a load of laundry. Before I could finish cleaning up the puke in his room Lucas was ready to get out of the bath. I wrapped him in a towel and laid him on the couch. Then I started to hear Lucas gagging again and I went running for something for him to puke in and made it just in time. One of the worst things in the world is watching Lucas' while he pukes.

I ended up making Lucas a pallet in the floor and he is now cuddled up in blankets and watching cartoons with his orange bowl beside him. He keeps begging for a drink of water and makes the saddest face when I tell him I can't give him one right now.

I am hoping that maybe the puking is a fluke and he hasn't caught the flu that seems to be going around. I don't think we've been around anyone that has had it, but I guess you never know. Lucas was around two of his friends today, so I hope he doesn't share the pukies with them. In a few hours we are supposed to be spending time with Curt's Grandparents from Michigan. They are on their way back to Michigan after a visit to Florida and will only be here for about a day.

Dear Lucas (32 Months),

Another month has come and gone and your third birthday keeps creeping closer. Your Dad and I are amazed everyday at all the new things you say and do on a daily basis. Last night I went over to a friend's house for a couple of hours and your Dad put you to bed. When I got home I went in to check on you and make sure you were still covered up. You were laying on your tummy with all your blankets kicked off in nothing but a diaper and your new red shoes. When I asked your Dad why on earth he had put you to bed like that he swore that you went to bed barefooted and wearing a t-shirt. I took your shoes off and covered you up. A few hours later I woke up to you standing over me asking if you could please have a t-shirt on and a diaper change. You went right back to bed. When the sun finally came up in the morning you woke us up smiling in your mismatched PJs wearing your red shoes.

You are in love with being a super hero. The Easter Bunny brought you this really awesome cape with your name on it and you've worn it twice for less then a few minutes both times. I think it has something to do with the fact that the special cape chokes you whenever you start running and "flying." I guess we are going to have to figure something out to keep it from choking you. A super hero needs a proper super hero cape.

Today you totally cracked me up (but to be honest that happens at least once a day.) We were getting ready to leave the house and you saw your Curious George stuffed animal that Tony and Lori gave you a long time ago. You never play with it so it was up on your shelf. For whatever reason you saw it and said "Mama, I NEED my George." So I handed it to you and you started pointing out all his body parts. When you got to his feet you said "Look, George's feet! I have feet too!" Then you hugged him to your chest and said "You are my best friend George, my best friend." When we went to walk out to the car you held one of George's hands and I held the other and we walked your new best friend to the car.

We all headed over to your Aunt Angela and Uncle Bill's house. We all met over there to see your Grandma and Grandpa La Forge who are headed back to Michigan from their annual winter trip in Florida. While we were all sitting around and talking an ice cream truck went by and all your cousins got excited. You didn't know what was going on. Everyday an ice cream truck goes by your house but until now you always just thought it was just a big car that drove by playing loud kid's music. You didn't know it was filled with wonderful cold sugared treats. You picked out a Spiderman ice cream with gumball eyes. You ate every drop.

I was worried that it might take you a while to warm up to your Great-Grandparents since you only get to see them once a year. Earlier in the day we looked at pictures and even watched a movie of you spending time with them last year. You were so excited by the time you got to actually see them.

Thanks for a month filled with hugs, kisses, and lots of laughs.

Bugga, I love you to the moon and back,

Mama
