Family History

Found these little gems in a bunch of things Curt's Grandma gave him. I also found a letter that Curt's Mom had written his Grandma Beulah when he was 6 weeks old. It said he was 10lbs 4 oz at his 6 week checkup (which was Lucas' birth weight) and that he was so handsome that she could tell already that he would have lots of girlfriends.

Sunny Saturday

This morning we all thought Sam was in labor. Lucas and I headed into town to pick up Steven (Sam's 10 year old son.) Just as we were pulling in our driveway with Steven, Sam and her Mom pulled right behind us. Sam was sent home because she wasn't far enough along in labor. I ended up keeping Steven for a few hours because I had already told the boys I would take them to the Roundhouse. It worked out because then Sam was able to go home and get a little rest.
Lucas had a blast showing Steven around. If you haven't noticed yet, the Roundhouse is Lucas' favorite place on earth. This is actually our second time there this week. We're really getting our money's worth out of that year pass we bought!
Steven had a blast as well. He said he likes anything "that is big, especially if it has big wheels."
Steven had lots of questions about what everything was and most of them I didn't know the answer too, which is sad considering the amount of times I've been to the Roundhouse.
Steven was planning his next trip back saying, "I can't wait to show my Mom this next time!"
Since the kids were so well behaved I decided to take them for a special treat and eat lunch on a train at the Whistlestop Cafe. It was 11:00AM when we got there and they don't actually open until 11:30 but the SWEETEST lady on earth worked there and opened up just for us. The boys thought it was so cool to eat on a train, especially since we had the whole place to ourselves.
When we got home I fixed Curt some lunch and the boys dyed Easter Eggs while Curt ate. Curt had a rough day yesterday but seems to be feeling much better today.
Just as the boys were done with their Easter eggs, Curt was dressed and ready to take Steven back into town. He is spending some time with his Grandpa tonight and is so excited to be out of the house. I've called him a few times tonight to make sure he is taking it easy and taking his medication and he sounds great. He's been so appreciative of me lately, and I'm just doing what he would do for me if the situation was reversed.

Under the Knife

We arrived at St.Joseph's hospital a little after 6AM this morning. Pretty soon after arriving Curt was taken back and given a bed and a gown and and IV. Then we just had to wait for his turn for surgery since he was the second one of the day. For those that do not know he had surgery to open and repair his urethra.

Curt was in good spirits even though he was scared to death. On the way to the hospital he held my hand with a death grip the whole way. He kept telling me how much he loved me over and over. While we were waiting in his day surgery room the Today Show was on and one of the segments was about planning your funeral and we just had a good laugh.

A little before 10AM Curt was taken back for surgery. The procedure took less than an hour and everything went great. All the nurses were so friendly. We even ended up knowing one of the nurses. Turns out that my friend Shannon, who I've known since 4th grade, was doing her student nursing today in day surgery (that's her in the white, looking while they wheel Curt past her to go to surgery.)

Curt was released at 1PM and we went to lunch with his Mom. He was STARVING since he hadn't eaten anything since 6PM the following day. After eating we picked up Lucas and headed home. We are so blessed with the best friends and family! Curt's mom stayed at the hospital the whole time and my mom watched Lucas for us. All day long we had calls, emails, and texts from friends making sure everything was okay and asking if we needed anything. Curt is taking it easy at home and has to have a catheter in for 2 weeks. When Lucas saw Curt's "boo boo" and catheter he said "WOW! I wish I could hurt my penis too! That is so cool!"
Also, for anyone who missed it you can also read the play by play that I kept via text messages on my twitter page here. It really made it easy to keep everyone updated all at once. I love technology!

A Little Weekend Update

Friday afternoon Lucas and I dropped off his the rest of his applications for pre-k. We were on our way home when my car started to overheat. Luckily I was right by our friends house so I went there. Sean was nice enough to look at the car for me and Lucas played with his friends David and Gabe (they are Sean and Priscilla's sons.)
In the wee hours of Saturday morning Lucas got sick. We are thinking now that he might have choked on his baby, (he likes to suck on it in his sleep.) After throwing up he went to sleep and when he woke up he was fine (and very hungry.) We were very glad that he wasn't sick because we had plans to get together with Curt's Grandparents. They stopped on their way back to Michigan from their trip to Florida. We ended up having dinner at Ruby Tuesdays and then back to their hotel room to visit for a while longer. Lucas ended up playing photographer.

This morning we went to church and Curt and Sean worked on my car. After church we let the boys play while the guys finished up with the car. It was such a pretty day outside! Curt and Sean were able to fix the problem with my car for pretty cheap. Turns out the car was overheating because the fans weren't turning on to cool off the car. Luckily it just took a $17 part!

On Guard

I don't talk about what a great Dad Curt is nearly enough. Tonight we went to dinner with Curt's Mom. Afterwards we walked around the strip mall and Curt and Lucas ended up with 2 swords. The two of them sword fought all the way back to the car, (complete with Lucas dramatically dying on the sidewalk several times.) Curt is usually pretty quiet around people he doesn't know and normally would not have done anything to draw attention to himself out in public. When he is with Lucas though he doesn't care what anybody but Lucas thinks.

June, Already?!?!?

We had a very busy and fabulous weekend! Saturday night Curt and I went to his uncle Kenny's wedding. It was so much fun. We even did a little dancing (which we have NEVER done in the 7 years we have been together.) I also got to meet a lot of Curt's family that I have never had the chance to meet before. Everyone was so friendly and warm. Today, we headed out to Tybee so Lucas could get to meet the family members too. We had lunch at the Crab Shack and Lucas even got to go in the Ocean for a few minutes.
Curt and his uncle Michael. This is the first time I've ever gotten to see my husband this dressed up!
