Parades, Valentines, and Snow

Friday was quite an exciting day for Lucas. It was Georgia Day and the original plan was for the students to parade around the local neighborhood but the weather didn't cooperate. Instead the students paraded around the school.

It was FREEZING outside so most of the kids wore their coats and jackets over their costumes.

After the parade it was time to pass out their Valentines. The kids lined up and took turns dropping Valentines into each classmate's bag.

Then Friday night it actually snowed! We just happened to be watching Lucas' friends that night. When the snow started to stick I took the boys outside to play and they had a snowball fight.

Tonight Lucas and I sat down to get his Valentine's Day cards ready to pass out to his classmates tomorrow. He signed three cards before he turned to me and said, "I think I'm getting tired. You can just do the rest. I'll go take my bath." So Curt went and filled up the bathtub and I slaved away feeling out Toy Story Valentines. When Lucas was clean and wrinkled he got out of the bath and headed over to check out my handiwork only to find me still working on his cards. "What? Mom you are not finished yet?!?!" Then he sat down beside me and started stuffing envelopes and talking about how excited he was to pass out the cards to his friends tomorrow.

Tonight was one of those nights that make me thankful for all the little unsung things that my parents did for me as a child (like buying Valentine's Day cards or cutting my PB&J into 4 little triangles.)

Happy Thanksgiving

We just ate our Thanksgiving feast a little bit ago and it was the first time I have cooked the whole meal (well minus the Turkey.) It was nice just getting up and cooking and not leaving the house to go to the multiple Thanksgivings we go to each year (although I do miss seeing everyone that we usually spend the holiday with.) Oh, and Curt has kitchen duty and gets to wash ALL the dishes by hand since there is no dishwasher. This just might be one of the best Thanksgivings ever!

Right as we were finishing up the meal it started to snow so we bundled Lucas up to see his first bit of snow and by the time we got outside it stopped. Lucas was bound and determined to catch a snowflake on his tongue so we stayed outside for a little bit and I think he finally caught one, or it might have just been rain. He keeps begging to go outside and catch more snow... but it is COLD!

In Search of the Perfect Pumpkin

This morning Lucas and I went to pick our pumpkins to take to the playgroup pumpkin painting party that we are attending tomorrow. There is a church right down the road from us doing a pumpkin patch so we went there instead of just buying them from the grocery store (which I almost did yesterday.)




Lucas was too scared to sit on the hay by himself so this nice man offered to let Lucas sit on his lap. Lucas went right to him. When we finally picked our pumpkins (Lucas kept changing his mind) they gave him a "I went to the pumpkin patch" sticker and a coloring sheet.
