Chalk & Nemo in the Park

Saturday evening we met up with some friends and went to check out the art in the park from the Sidewalk festival. It was AMAZING! We also enjoyed a picnic dinner (our second picnic of the day) and then watched "Finding Nemo." Lucas was WORN out from such a fun day and ended up passing on my lap after the movie started.

Lucas' New Roomate

Sometime before Lucas' birthday I entered this contest to win a Kung Fu Panda birthday party pack. Since Lucas' birthday has already come and gone I forgot about the contest until this morning when I was woken up by a Fed EX delivery guy carrying 2 big boxes covered in Panda stickers. I was thinking that the prize would have been things like cups, napkins, and plates, boy was I wrong. Here is a list of just some of the things included inside:

We opened up the box with the Cardboard panda first and Lucas' mouth drops and he said, "OH MY G-D!" very loudly. He has NEVER said anything like this so I just ignored it because I didn't want it into a "thing" where it is something he repeats on purpose to be naughty. Then when we got to the other box and started pulling everything else he said it again. I calmly explained that we don't say that because it isn't nice. He seemed to understand until more and more stuff kept coming out of the box and he just couldn't help himself anymore (this time clamping his hand over his mouth.) So Lucas has already broken one of the Ten Commandments and it is all because of a big cartoon panda that is "living" in his room for now .

"To Infinity and a Yawn"

This weekend we rented "Toy Story" from Netflix and Lucas became instantly OBSESSED! So much so he spent this morning running around in his Super Hero cape and Buzz Light Year undies (hand-me-downs from his cousin, and no he isn't potty trained) saying "to infinity and a yawn!"

Tonight something in his head clicked and he realized that the Buzz Light Year Costume and the Woody Cowboy costume that he got for Christmas were from Toy Story and he spent the rest of tonight prancing around saying, "You're my favorite deputy." Tomorrow I plan on returning "Toy Story" in the mail. I know this is going to cause a major melt down but hopefully it won't be that bad since "Toy Story 2" is supposed to be here tomorrow as well.

The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything

Lucas has been begging for months and months to see the new VeggieTales movie. We couldn't get him to understand that it wasn't out yet every time he asked to see it so I couldn't wait to take him to see it. When I got a belated birthday check in the mail this week I knew just how to spend it. I picked Lucas up a special shirt and made plans to take him to see the movie on opening day.

He was so excited to see the movie that he even wore his pirate hat to the theater. From the time the movie started until the ending credits rolled Lucas sat in his chair with his eyes stuck to the screen. He didn't try to run around the theater or even make any noise. When the movie was over he ran to the front of the movie theater and tried to get back in the ticket line and said "See Pirate Ship movie again!" He protested a little bit when we left the theater but he was so excited he talked about the movie the whole way home. I think we have his next birthday party theme already.

I didn't like the movie as much as I thought I would (I would give it 3 & 1/2 stars out of 5.) I liked the first VeggieTale movie a lot better. This was just your standard rated "G" pirate and princess movie. It didn't have any Witty takes on bible stories that VeggieTales is known for but it did have the feel good morals in there. It is nice to finally have a "G" rated movie to take him too. I'm trying to get in all the free movies I can while he is 2 before we have to start paying for him to go. It was $7 just for my ticket and that was the matinee price!

Lucas' First Movie

We are not Illegals

We rent our movies from Netflix and when we get a new movie it just comes in this little white sleeve that has a printed movie description on the outside. Friday, we got Borat in the mail and when Curt took the movie out of the sleeve he thought they sent us a bootlegged copy. When he showed me the disk I immediately emailed customer service to let them know that someone else had sent them a bootlegged copy and it got sent to us so they wouldn't think we were making illegal copies of movies (which we never do since we hate to watch movies more than once,) We watched the movie and then I returned the movie by mail with a note saying again we weren't bootleggers. After watching it I couldn't understand why anyone would want to copy the movie to watch again.

Today we finally get a response from Netflix saying, "The title in question, "Borat", is a comedic social satire. In keeping with the tone of the movie itself, the movie packaging was intentionally designed by the studio to look like a "bootlegged" or pirated movie." So it turns out Curt and I are just gullible. Netflix also ended up issuing us a free bonus rental since we went through all the trouble of contacting them (or maybe they just felt sorry for us for renting it in the first place since the movie was horrible!!!) I'm guessing they have gotten a few other bootleg reports since the DVD was released.

Blood Diamonds

Tonight I went to the movies for the first time since I was pregnant with Lucas. I saw Blood Diamonds. You should go see it too.

For those of you that where jealous of our warm weather a few weeks ago will be happy to know it is now cold and windy here.

"On a pachyderm parade"

Today we had a Labor Day BBQ with Sam, her boyfriend Jason, and Steven. After dinner (which was delicious) Lucas kept trying to crawl and see Jason's four "Jadies." Lucas had us all cracking up because he didn't like crawling on his knees over the concrete so he kept trying to crawl with straight legs. His crawling reminded me of a scene from the Jungle Book.

tonight I was watching TV and curt was in here on the computer and he yelled to me "I can't wait to meet out baby" AWW how sweet is that!

Well I am going to watch Jay Leno.

It is so cool how many people in Iraq voted! It makes me tear up to hear all the threats and violence they went through to get there and we still take voting for granted! EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH IRON JAWED ANGELS!

I love Family Dinner Sundays

So last night Curt and I ended up going to grab some Mexican food, Yum! Then we went to Ted and Lisa's and talked to them for a little while. They are working on Shane's old room and getting ready to move Matthew in. Then Shane and Colby will move into Matthew's old room. Normally I will stay there until about 2 or 3am but we left a little after 12.

Today we got up and just hung out. We just watched The Village, and it was pretty good. Not at all what I expected. It started out a little slow but I think the end of it made up for it! It had some really great twists, it wasn't really a horror movie at all.

What I am most excited about is going to dinner with Curt's family. We used to do Sunday Dinner every other Sunday but haven't done it in a while. It should be Curt's mom Andrea, his Grandparents Ken and Barbara, and one of Curt's sisters Sam and her son Steven. I haven't seen Steven in a few months so I can't wait to see him! Curt's uncle Ken (who is only 6 months older then him) might be there as well.

The only bad thing is that most of them smoke. I am trying to avoid cigarette smoke as much as possible. I don't want to take any chances with my baby whatsoever. Well I should go jump in the shower and find something to wear. I'm in a good mood today! I am trying to get ready early because when we are running late Curt and I always yell at each other! We are such kids sometime! I love us though!
